CONCORD is looking for a Membership Engagement Officer (Maternity Cover Leave

CONCORD is the European confederation of Relief and Development NGOs. We are made up of member organisations: 28 national associations, 21 international networks and 3 associate members that represent over 2,600 NGOs, supported by millions of citizens across Europe. We are the main interlocutor with the EU institutions on development policy. We are a not for profit organisation, registered under Belgian law as an a.i.s.b.l - Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif - (An international not for profit association).

About the role

CONCORD is seeking a highly-motivated individual to help us improve the engagement of CONCORD members and in turn the impact of their work. This is a unique opportunity to support CONCORD members to fulfill their goals thanks to your analysis, enthusiasm for excellent content production, and strategic organisational and communication skills.

Working closely with the Membership and Communication Team, you will help our 28 national associations, 21 international networks and 3 associate members to work together with meaningful results. Our mission is to ensure that the European NGDO movement is active and fully engaged in promoting EU policies that have a positive impact on developing countries. We also work to ensure that the role of NGDOs is valued and protected as an authentic voice of European civil society that is engaged in issues of development and global justice.


As part of our Membership & Communications team you will work closely with:

The Head of department:

 To gather data to assess the participation of our members in our events, in a quantitative and qualitative way.

To support engagement with current members (coordination meetings with newer members, new membership applicants), and reach out to organisations who the CONCORD Board may wish to approach in the context of CONCORDs strategy.

Support with the organisation of Inclusive Network Committee meetings and followup including preliminary preparations for Learning and Exchange Forum 2018.

Liaise with policy colleagues to ensure and promote inclusion.

The Governance coordinator:

To support the organisation of the biggest gathering of our confederation (theGeneral Assembly)

The Communication coordinator:

To foster members engagement:

Ensuring information flows, editing and publishing the bi-monthlynewsletters and special editions

Via online tools (socialmedia and CONCORD intranet)

To manage website (create sub-sections, draft blogposts, monitor traffic, trackSEO)

Overall Membership and Communication Team:

To support the organisation of the teams events and activitiesHere

Here are the skills and experience were looking for:

Deep commitment to our vision of a world in which poverty and inequality havebeen ended; in which decisions are based on social justice, gender equality and uponour responsibility to future generations; where every person has the right to live indignity, on an equal basis, free from poverty and sustainability

2+ years experience (including internships) in civil society organizations supporting communication or community engagement.

Social media skills that show an ability to engage followers and create attractive content

Proven experience working with design tools (Adobe package or open-source equivalent)

Excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to write clear and accessible texts.

Strong organisational and task management skills, a proactive and self-directed worker

Fluent in English. French/Spanish considered an asset, but not a requirement

Conditions of employment including benefits

You will work in our offices for 9 months in Brussels, Belgium

Your gross full-time salary, depending on experience, will be from € 2.981 3.196per month (13.8 months a year).

You will be entitled to a minimum of 20 days vacation pro rata

CONCORD also provides hospitalisation insurance, meal vouchers of €7 per workingday and a monthly commuting allowance on local public transport or by bicycle.
